About Dorien Proost
Hello! I’m DorienProost, 20 years old and I’m from Turnhout a town in Belgium.
For the moment I’m studying Social work at the Thomas Moore College in Geel, I’m in my last year and I hope to graduate in June.
I love to swim, go out with friends and traveling.
The reason that I came to Romania is that I want to know a new culture, doing some development work, just to see another world. Romania was totally new for me and I haven’t heard something about it on the news, papers,… It seemed to me a whole challenge to come to Romania.
I’m staying in the village Moldovita from the province Suceava, I will stay here for 4 months in a host family. I work for the organization ADAM, it has his basis in Belgium.
My head tasks are getting to know the organization (the youth, women organization, men organization,…), helping a little bit everywhere I can, organize things,… Also I have to make sure that the youth movement get forward and develop.
My expectations are that I’m going to learn very much, that I make some friends and that I contribute to a better working and future here. From the local people my expectations are filled, they are friendly and helping me where they can.
After all it is an experience that I will always carry in my heart.
